Ahead of the Motilal Oswal Conference next week, Gautam Duggad, Head of Research - Institutional Equities, Motilal Oswal Securities in an interview with CNBC-TV18 shared his thoughts and outlook on the FMCG space.
The FMCG sector has been in the limelight because of lack of visibility of earnings growth in other sectors, says Duggad. Moreover, second consecutive year of good monsoons, a semblance of rural recovery has also helped make the space more attractive to investors, he adds.
Most of the largecaps in the FMCG space like HUL, Britannia, Pidilite, Asian Paints have up 30 to 45 percent up so far in 2017.
Investors with a timeframe of 3-5 years can still make money if invested in this space, especially with quality of management not being a worry in most companies listed in this space, believes Duggad.
He also expects earnings growth for Nifty to be around 10-11 percent compared to last year’s 7.5 percent.
