Bajaj Auto on Monday unveiled a new 200cc Pulsar, with a new technology that it hopes will drive its sales further and set benchmarks for the industry.

The new Pulsar comes with triple spark plug technology and has a new more sporty design than the existing Pulsars, which have the twin spark DTSI technology.

The new Pulsar 200NS will be commercially launched from the beginning of fiscal 2013. Company officials aren't announcing the exact price yet, but say it will be priced below Rs one lakh.

"The Pulsar 200NS showcases next leap in technology and design and will set the standard for others to follow," said K Srinivas, President - Motorcycles.

Bajaj Auto has no plans to use this technology in the existing Pulsar and Discover motorcycles, but promises more products based on the new technology.

"There will be more than one Pulsar with this new technology," MD Rajiv Bajaj said.

The new Pulsar will be manufactured at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra, where it already produces the current range of Pulsars and the KTM Duke, which it launched last week.

Bajaj Auto shares closed at Rs 1545.65, up 0.5% over Friday.
