Britain wants to play a greater role in the business sector in West Bengal, British Foreign Office Minister (South Asia) Jeremy Browne said today.
Stating the UK was strongly committed to having good relations with India, Browne, who met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the purpose "is to tell her that Britain wants to play a greater and more positive role in the business
sector."
Browne, the first European minister to visit the state after the new government took charge said, "My department is one one-year old and I am the first minister of the department to come to Kolkata."
Browne, who is in charge of commerce and industries, described his meeting with the chief minister as 'good and positive'.
