Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said his government’s resolve to stand by domestic industry and maintain strong cross-border cooperation in response to the US President Donald Trump's announcement of imposing 35% tariffs on Canadian goods.
“The Canadian government has steadfastly defended our workers and businesses," Carney said in a post, adding that Canada has made critical strides in addressing the fentanyl crisis in North America.

“We remain committed to working with the United States to save lives and protect communities in both our countries," he added.

This comes after US President Donald Trump announced plans to raise tariffs on a broad range of Canadian imports to 35%, up from the 25% rate imposed earlier this year.
