Xiaomi is making small but useful changes to improve how its phones look and feel. The latest HyperOS 2.1 beta update introduces a semi-transparent gesture bar, replacing the old black or white background. This means more screen space and a cleaner look without changing the actual screen size, according to a report by Xiaomitime.
The update first appeared in the HyperOS 2.0.108.4.BETA version on the Xiaomi 15. While still in testing, reports suggest it could roll out to all users in stable updates by March or April 2025.
A better display
The semi-transparent gesture bar makes the display feel bigger and more open. Here’s why it’s a good change:
–Watching videos: No solid bar at the bottom blocking the screen, making content more immersive.
–Gaming: Every bit of screen space matters, and this update makes sure you get the most out of it.
–Browsing and multitasking: A cleaner, more modern look that makes everyday use feel smoother.
When will it be available?
Right now, the new gesture bar is part of the HyperOS 2.1 beta test. If everything goes well, Xiaomi plans to add it to stable updates between March and April 2025. It’s already being tested on the Xiaomi 15 series and is expected to reach more devices soon.
