Google is making the search experience on Chrome better for smartphone users. The tech giant has introduced a few new features which will enhance the search experience for users.
Chrome Actions
Google has added a new feature called Chrome Actions which will help users save time when engaging with a local business. For example, when you search for a restaurant, you’ll see shortcut buttons in the search results to quickly do things like call, get directions and read reviews. According to Google, the feature is currently available in Chrome on Android, and is expected to Chrome on iOS later this year.
Shortcut suggestions
The feature is available on both Chrome on Android and iOS. What it does is that it adds a customised touch to your address bar, helping you navigate to a website based on what you normally type to get there. “For instance, maybe you usually type in “schedules” to see times for the City Metro because that word is a part of the site’s description,” explained Google. With new shortcut suggestions, City Metro will now appear higher up in your search suggestions whenever you search “schedules.”
Trending searches on iPhone
While the feature was already available on Android, Google is rolling out trending search suggestions on iOS. Users will see trending search suggestions in their Chrome address bar on iOS. These trends will show up below the recent searches when users click the address bar from the New Tab page.
Sports cards in Discover feed
Google has added live sports cards to Chrome’s Discover Feed on the New Tab page on iOS and Android. When your favourite team is in action, you’ll get automatic updates on how the game is going if you've followed the team or expressed interest in it in the past.
