Samsung is preparing for the launch of its flagship foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, a phone that promises to bring a range of upgrades. As the phone’s debut draws closer, rumors and reports suggest at least 5 big changes we can expect this time around.
1. Thinner and lighter design
One of the most noteworthy tweaks could be a thinner and lighter form factor. According to reports, the Z Fold 7 Ultra might be as slim as 3.9mm when unfolded — a significant reduction from the 5.6mm thickness of the Z Fold 6. It signals a move toward making foldable smartphones more comfortable to hold and use.
2. Large, improved displays
The phone is expected to feature a bigger main display — rumoured to be 8 inches — alongside a cover screen that’s more functional for daily tasks. The expansion in size, combined with a thinner profile, underscores Samsung’s goal to maximise screen real estate without adding bulk.
3. Snapdragon 8 Elite processor
The Z Fold 7 Ultra is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. This chip promises faster speeds, smoother multitasking and enhanced power efficiency — crucial for a phone designed to handle heavy workloads and productivity tasks.
4. 200MP main camera sensor
For the first time in a foldable phone, the Z Fold 7 Ultra is rumored to sport a 200MP main camera — the same sensor currently available on the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra. This improvement should result in sharper photos, greater detail and better low-light performance.
