Tech consultant fired unexpectedly, company comes back with an offer to rehire

A tech professional recently shared a rollercoaster experience that many workers can relate to — being fired for the first time in his career and then receiving an unexpected call from the same company, according to a report by ET Panache.

The 10-year industry veteran had joined an overseas firm in early 2024 as an independent contractor, recommended by a former client. He cleared a demanding interview process and was offered a salary 1.5 times higher than his previous role, along with the flexibility to work from home and occasional office visits abroad. At first, everything seemed promising. His manager praised his work, and he even received public recognition during one of his trips to the company’s office.

But things soon took a turn. The work environment became stressful as the manager began scrutinizing minor mistakes, monitoring hourly updates, and withholding overtime pay. Leave requests were denied, and even suggestions to hire help or make processes more efficient were ignored. The situation became so tense that despite his dedication, the consultant felt increasingly undervalued and demotivated.

In mid-2025, he was abruptly terminated without warning — a first in his career and a painful experience. Heartbroken and unsure of his next steps, he took time to reflect and explore other opportunities.
