Instagram is currently experiencing service disruptions, with thousands of users reporting problems accessing the platform. The outage appears to be affecting several features of the social media app, including loading the feed, accessing timelines, and using core functions within the application.
According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks real-time outages, reports of Instagram issues began rising sharply on March 11. The number of complaints surged quickly, indicating that the disruption is affecting users across multiple regions.
The outage has left many users unable to access their feeds or interact with content, while others are reporting delays in loading posts and profiles.
Problems users are facing
Downdetector data shows that app-related issues account for the majority of complaints, making up 74 percent of the reported problems. Users say the Instagram app either fails to load properly or becomes unresponsive while trying to browse the platform.
Another 18 percent of users reported server connection issues, suggesting problems communicating with Instagram’s backend services. These issues have prevented some users from refreshing their feeds or accessing profile pages.
A smaller number of complaints, about 4 percent, relate to problems with the feed or timeline, where posts either fail to load or appear with long delays.
User comments on outage tracking platforms show frustration among affected users. Some said the app stopped working suddenly, while others reported that posts and images were not loading even after restarting the app.
Several users also mentioned being unable to refresh their home feed or access stories, while others experienced errors when trying to open profiles or interact with content.
Downtime details
Downdetector’s outage graph shows that reports began increasing early in the morning, with a major spike recorded around 9:15 AM. At that time, the platform recorded more than 12,000 reports, significantly higher than the normal baseline of around 23 reports.
The sudden surge in complaints indicates that the disruption began shortly before the spike and spread quickly as more users attempted to access the service.
The outage tracking map suggests that the issue is affecting users across different regions rather than being limited to a single location.
Instagram has not yet issued an official statement regarding the disruption. As the situation develops, users are monitoring Downdetector and official social media channels for updates on when normal service will be restored.
