It has been over 13 years since Tim Cook took over as Apple CEO. Cook has been at the helm and under his reign Apple become a multi-trillion dollar company. In an interview with Wired, Cook was asked how long he plans to continue in his role. Cook said that it is a question that is asked quite frequently now.
The Apple CEO said that he “loves this place” and “that it's a privilege of a lifetime to be here.”
Cook didn’t give a definitive answer but said “I'll do it until the voice in my head says, “It's time,” and then I'll go and focus on what the next chapter looks like.”
For someone who joined the company in 1998, it has been a long time. Cook said that it's hard to imagine life without Apple, “because my life has been wrapped up in this company since 1998.” He said that he “loves it” and it has been overwhelming majority of his adult life.
Under Cook’s aegis, Apple has seen many new product launches, including the hugely successful AirPods and the Apple Watch. The most recent new product has been the Vision Pro. Reports have suggested that the response to Vision Pro has been rather lukewarm. Cook said that Vision Pro is “an early adopter product, for people who want tomorrow’s technology today.” He said that those buyers have been picking the Vision Pro and added that the “the ecosystem is flourishing.”
