Elon Musk has announced his plans to disrupt the video game industry with an AI-driven gaming studio. The announcement came after Musk responded to a tweet from a fan who criticised the current direction of the gaming industry.

xAI to launch AI game studio: Here’s what we know

Musk, a longtime gamer and avid Diablo 4 player, responded to a tweet from a fan who criticised the direction of the gaming industry. The user expressed frustration in game development, particularly pointing out how game studios and game journalism have become ideologically driven.

Later, in a series of posts on X on November 27, Musk stated his intention to expand gaming through innovative applications of artificial intelligence. Further, he added, "Too many game studios that are owned by massive corporations. @xAI is going to start an AI game studio to make games great again!"

While Musk did not specify how he would do with this AI innovation in the gaming industry, his announcement came close on the heels of his criticism of Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella. Many social media users and gamers have appreciated this move as Musk's tweet is getting publicity across multiple areas, who are thrilled with the prospect of game ownership now moving to firms not owned by a massive corporation.

However, many critics have also pointed out that Musk has never managed a game studio before, and hence he may face challenges to establish this new startup.
