Facebook users around the globe were taken aback when they noticed a sudden change to the platform’s iconic logo. The familiar blue “f” icon was replaced with a new design — the logo turned black. The blue background with the Facebook icon in white turned black with blue icon.

As expected the unexpected and sudden change in the popular social media platform’s icon led to a flurry of reactions on social media, with users expressing a mix of confusion and intrigue. There was speculation that Facebook was undergoing a rebranding effort, while others wondered if the change was a teaser for a new feature or service.

However, according to a report by Business Insider, Meta has a confirmed that it was nothing but a glitch. "This was caused by a technical issue and has been resolved. People will see the fix when they update their app,” a Meta spokesperson told Business Insider.

Not everyone was affected by the glitch. For instance, we checked our Facebook icon and it hadn’t turned black and blue. Users can update the Facebook app if their icon had turned black and blue. Once updated, the app will restore to its original colour scheme.
