Rohit Sharma’s record as ODI captain: By replacing Virat Kohli, Rohit became the full-time ODI captain in 2021. He captained India in 56 ODIs, won 42, lost 12, one game failed to produce any result, while one ended in a tie. His win-percentage is 75.00. (Photo- BCCI)

Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, India finally ended the drought at ICC competitions. He led the team to World T20 title last year, following which India also won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This was India's second ICC title in less than a year. In addition, he also guided the Men In Blue to the finals of ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where India finished as runners-up. Virat Kohli’s record as ODI captain: Virat Kohli's captaincy period began in 2017 after MS Dhoni stepped down. Kohli captained India in 95 ODI games, out of which the team emerged victorious on 65 occasions and lost 27 times. One ended in a tie, while two matches produced no results. Apart from the 2017 Champions Trophy, where India lost the finals against Pakistan, Kohli captained the Men In Blue in major ICC events, including the ICC World Cup 2019, where the team reached the semi-finals. MS Dhoni’s record as ODI captain: MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the greatest captains India has ever had. He transformed Indian cricket into a dominant side. Dhoni led India for 10 years in 200 ODI matches and won 110 matches. The team endured defeats 74 times, while 11 games produced no result and 5 were tied. His win percentage is 55 percent.
