Rio Tinto says CSN accepts Riversdale offer

Global miner Rio Tinto said it has control over 72% of takeover target Riversdale after Brazil's CSN accepted its offer.

Rio Tinto passed the 50% mark on the USD 4 billion offer on April 8 after failing over the past three months to persuade Riversdale's two key shareholders,Tata Steel and CSN to sell their combined 47% stake. Rio did not say in a statement whether Tata Steel will follow or whether it was holding talks with the Indian steel maker.
