Police arrest seven people for betting in IPL match

Police have arrested seven persons from their alleged involvement in betting in an Indian Premier League match which was played between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Visakhapatnam.

Police have arrested seven persons from their alleged involvement in betting in an Indian Premier League match which was played between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Visakhapatnam.

Police today said that on a tip off, a police party raided the office of a property dealer in Sector 5 at Rewari last evening and arrested seven persons identified as Ram Niwas, Krishan Kumar, both residents of Bhiwani district, Karambir of Jhajjar district, Lakshya, Kamal Singh, Praveen and Raj Kumar, all four residents of various localities of Rewari city, who all were allegedly betting on the IPL match yesterday. Police also seized from them Rs 13 lakh, one LED TV and six mobile phones.

The Model Town police here registered a case under the provisions of Prevention of Gambling Act against them. They were today produced before the Duty Magistrate here who granted them bail.
