The launch of quadricycles, as allowed by a government notification, could face a fresh hurdle in the Delhi High court.
A senior SC advocate has moved the Delhi HC seeking to quash the notification and a stay on the launch.
The petition alleges that the quadricycles pose a safety hazard and are not governed by the Motor Vehicles Act.
The plea argues that the Tyagi Committee’s findings on road safety were not considered by the government before issuing the notification. The PIL seeks an amendment to the motor vehicles act and the implementation of the Tyagi Committee recommendations.
The Delhi HC has asked the government to reply to the plea. The matter will be taken up on September 17.
