India must develop innovation ecosystem: Bill Gates

He stressed that the government should be an enabler and a smart regulator to enable the private sector to deliver efficient services across sectors.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates today said that India needs to develop innovation ecosystem to build product for future and meet the challenges facing the world.

"The world is looking to India not just to solve its problems but to address global challenges through innovation," Gates said while giving lecture at NITI-Lectures: Transforming India the first part of this event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August.

The Co-Chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation further said," the world is looking at India for meeting global challenges which needs to build." Noting that technology is a key lever for transformation, Gates said," strong Innovation ecosystem needed to build products for the future." He stressed that the government should be an enabler and a smart regulator to enable the private sector to deliver efficient services across sectors.

Earlier in the day, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
