The Maharashtra government has decided to execute 1993 Mumbai blast convict Yakub Memon on July 30. According to sources, a death warrant was issued for hanging Memon at 7 am on Wednesday.
The authorities are slated to go ahead with the execution of Yakub if the Supreme Court rejects a curative petition filed against his death sentence. The plea is scheduled to come up for hearing in the apex court on July 21.
The hanging is likely to take place at Nagpur Central Jail.
Yakub was sentenced to death by a designated TADA court in 2007, after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy.
According to investigating agency, Tiger Memon got Yakub involved in planning and plotting the serial blasts that killed at least 257 people and injured about 700 on March 12, 1993.
