2013 Peugeot 308 hatchback unveiled

2013 Peugeot 308 hatchback unveiled

Peugeot has lifted the wraps off its new 308 hatchback. The new car now bears the design language or rather the family look with a familiar face first seen on the 2008 crossover. The grille is a lot more tighter looking in appearance and the headlamps now gets the full LED treatment. The fog lamps are more pronounced than before and have a rakish hood to go along with. The split-five-spoke alloys wheels in themselves look quite cool. The C-pillar is a windowless affair while the rear has the three Peugeot (lion) claws design for the LED lamps.

As far as interiors go, Peugeot is bragging big about their 9.7-inch touchscreen i-cockpit. The instrument cluster is a head-up unit and Peugeot claims that its no-button strategy will help the driver focus on the road rather than being bothered about which switch is where. Peugeot has built the 308 on its new modular EMP2 platform which has reduced the overall weight of the car by a good 140kg. The company claims that the new 308 is more dynamically acclaimed than its predecessor and special attention has also been given on the ride quality. The new Peugeot 308 will be built at the company's Sochaux plant in France.

While no word has been released yet about the choice of engines, we expect Peugeot to bring in both petrol and diesel powertrains to the equation. The 308 hatchback will have its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Sales for the 308 will start from January 2014.
