Google enters its teenage years today. Look forward to dark times of pubescent tantrums and senses of identity confusion. Nah, just kidding, it's Google. 13 years ago, Sergey Brin and Larry Page incorporated a privately held company to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful". The company had its initial public offering in 2004. In addition to a web search service, Google's services are virtually ubiquitous. Many of us look up directions on Google Maps, blog via Blogger, stream videos on YouTube of course and more so now, use an operating system on our mobile phones and tablets that's owned by Google (that last one is Android) and a social network.
