My new laptop just doesn't seem to work properly; what should I do?

Respected Sir. I have just purchased a laptop. For the past few months, I am facing a problem. The system hangs once I connect any USB device or switch on the integrated Bluetooth. There’s no problem with wireless or LAN though. Also, the MMC card reader does not work at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Bluetooth, wireless and USB drivers and even followed up by flashing the BIOS and reinstalling Windows 7 almost three or four times, but to no avail. Sometimes the DVD drive also malfunctions and it does not detect any CD or DVD disc inserted. I tried to get the laptop repaired from the service centre at Bangalore and they state that there is no hardware problem. I do not know what to do. My laptop is now just sitting pretty, but really not as functional as I hoped, and I’m not even able to take a backup of my hard disc to my protect data in case of a crash. Please advice. Regards.<br />KarthikHello Kartik. As per what information you are giving me, the problem with the laptop seems to be with the hardware itself. You have also stated that you tried reformatting the entire hard drive, repartitioned it, reinstalled the operating system and even went to the extent of flasing the BION with the latest version. If your laptop is still not behaving well, it definitely is a hardware issue. To confirm this, you should try booting your laptop using a live operating system from Linux such as Ubuntu or Knoppix. After booting into the operating system, if the laptop works well in every aspect that you stated not working, then the hardware is fine and the operating system is to blame. But if you are still facing issues like you did when using Windows, then some hardware is definitely faulty.   Click here for full story
