Public registrations for .XXX domain open today

Early this year, we had reported about the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approving the usage of the suffix - .xxx for pornographic websites, in a bid to give the adult entertainment industry an identity solely of its own. Now, a PCMag report confirms that the public registrations for the .XXX domain will begin for the public at 11am Eastern time today. The registrations can be done through a host of registrars - GoDaddy.com, Network Solutions, name.com, among others. Domain registrations, reportedly are being done on first come, first serve basis. Also, different registrars have different rates for registering a particular domain name for you - registering a domain name with GoDaddy.com will cost $99.99 for the first year, while registering with Network Solutions will cost $129.99.Click here for full story
