Allaying fears of sluggish economic growth impacting tax collections, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Prakash Chandra today exuded confidence that revenue targets for 2011-12 will be achieved.
Chandra today said dates for talks on the double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA) between India and Mauritius haven't been fixed yet.
The government today said the tax payers whose annual income comprising salary and interest is up to Rs 5 lakh, are not required to file income-tax return from now onwards, a move which would benefit about 85 lakh assesses.
