Advocate and author Seema Joshi had filed a petition seeking directions to implement and apply the ACt to women advocates enrolled with State Bar Councils/Bar Associations.
Notably, on July 7, the Bombay High Court held POSH law applied only in an employer-employee relationship, therefore, women lawyers did not fall in its ambit.
A similar plea filed in 2024 was dismissed by the SC which asked the petitioner to approach the Election Commission. The plea states that petitioner's representation to the EC received no response.
