When the case came up before the XIV Additional Judge for CBI cases S Natarajan, the CBI strongly opposed the discharge applications moved by the Maran brothers. Maintaining that all charges framed against them were supported with material and documentary evidence, the CBI wanted the special court to dismiss the discharge applications moved by the duo and also filed an additional affidavit.
The special 2G court, headed by OP Saini, in it's order, held that CBI has relied on misreading if official documents, to make out a case against the accused. As per the special court, CBI relied heavily on merely speculation and surmises of the complainant, C Sivasankaran.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Pritam Singh issued summons to Maran, the company and its Managing Director S Natrajhen after taking cognizance on two complaints filed against them by the IT Department. The court directed them to appear before it on August 21.
