Lee Hsien Yang on Wednesday formally joined a new opposition party competing against his brother Lee Hsien Loong's People's Action Party, which has ruled the city-state since its independence since 1965.
Lee had been hospitalised at the Singapore General Hospital for severe pneumonia since February 5. In a statement issued on Monday, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said Lee passed away peacefully at the Singapore General Hospital at 3.18 am (local time), the Straits Times reported.
