Tata Steel Kalinganagar, the largest greenfield steel plant in Odisha today said hot metal production at its blast furnace crossed 2 million tonne on February 19.
Country's largest steel maker SAIL will spend around Rs 6,000 crore this fiscal on various modernisation and expansion programmes as well as on research and development (R&D) initiatives.
The Mumbai-based firm's crude steel production rose by 11 percent to 2.55 MT in the third quarter of 2015-16 compared with 2.29 MT during the same quarter in 2014-15, it said in a regulatory filing.
The steel major had recorded an output of 2.52 MT in July-September of 2013-14. "Tata Steel registered hot metal and crude steel production of 2.59 MT (up 2.4 percent y-o-y) and 2.35 MT (up 0.5 percent y-o-y), respectively, for Q1 FY16," the company said in a statement.
The sale able steel production was higher at 9.07 million tonnes, 1.6 percent up as compared to last year's figure of 8.93 million tonnes.
