An inclusive programme for overall development of the weavers working in different districts will soon be launched by the state government. People associated with the handloom sector will certainly be benefitted from this scheme, Kumar said.
Replying to questions, Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said during the Question Hour that "the Handloom weavers do not come under the GST regime as their total turnover is below Rs 20 lakh."
To mark the importance of handloom in social and economic sphere, Ficci today celebrated the second National Handloom Day by organising exhibition of various handloom materials from various parts of the country alongside B2B events.
"Our handloom sector is diverse, eco-friendly and is a source of employment for countless weavers, who will be very encouraged by our support," he said in a series of tweets on occasion of Handloom Day.
