The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed the International Long Distance Operators (ILDOs) to drop incoming calls with no Calling Line Identification (CLI), or improper CLI or having certain prefixes.
The Minister of State for Communications told Rajya Sabha that 20,980 mobile base stations were installed as of November 26.
She met India's Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan on the sidelines of a conference of the UN body International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Romania which commenced on September 24.
Addressing the inaugural event of the International Telecommunication Union’s Regional Standardisation Forum (RSF) for Asia and Oceania region, Chauhan said India is likely to deploy indigenously developed and manufactured 5G telecom gears by end of this year for 5G services.
IT major TCS and state-owned telecom research firm CDoT are engaged in developing 5G techology indigenously which is likely to be deployed on the BSNL network.
Replying to a supplementary question during Question Hour, Devusinh Chauhan also said that the four companies have been allotted spectrum for conducting trials and added that the trials are expected to be completed soon.
