State-run power generation company NTPC will seek its board's nod on the takeover of Damodar Valley Corporation's Raghunathpur thermal power plant in West Bengal's Purulia district.
A week after the coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal declared that he had de-allocated 5 coal blocks given to NTPC, Arup Roy Chowdhury, chairman and managing director of the power major said he had not received any intimation from the ministry and was well on track to develop the coal blocks, reports CNBC-TV18.
State-run NTPC has applied to the government for cheaper fundraising options as this would reduce the cost of power. The company is looking at Rs 22,000 crore worth tax-free bonds and Rs 15,000 crore of long-term infrastructure bonds.
