Replying to questions, Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said during the Question Hour that "the Handloom weavers do not come under the GST regime as their total turnover is below Rs 20 lakh."
In a written reply to Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said during the first two months of current fiscal, the sector received USD 21.41 million foreign inflows.
Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, said raw silk production in 2016-17, however, increased to 30,348 tonnes. It was 28,523 tonnes in 2015-16.
"The overall export of cotton textiles has declined by 10 per cent over the past three years," Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
"The exports of textiles during 2016-17 (April-December) were USD 26 billion compared to USD 27.2 billion during 2015-16 (April-December)," Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said today in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
Under the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance and capital subsidy to the extent of 50 percent, 75 percent and 90 percent of the basic cost of the solar energy plant to applicants.
The minister from Almora constituency said he will especially try to improve the conditions of the weavers living in remote areas of Uttarakhand and in the hilly areas along the Sino-Indian border.
According to Tamta, Indian exporters have stepped up by increasing exports of fashion jewellery and accessories.
