Rahul accepts blame for Congress' poor show

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has conceded defeat in Uttar Pradesh and has taken the responsibility for the poor show of the party.

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has conceded defeat in Uttar Pradesh and has taken the responsibility for the poor show of the party. He said, "I was leading and we lost. It is my responsibility."

The Congress leader, who had headed the Congress campaign in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, said that the results were a big lesson for him, adding, "I have promised villagers that I will be them. I will remain there."

Rahul further said that he wanted to congratulate Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav for the win in the state assembly elections.

He, however, said that it was too early to analyse why the Congress did not perform well in the elections.
