As Maharashtra gears up for polls on November 20, Washim has emerged as a key constituency to watch. Reserved as a Scheduled Castes (SC) seat, it is primarily contested by the BJP and VBA.
In the 2019 Assembly Elections, Lakhan Sahadeo Malik of the BJP won the seat with 66,159 votes, securing a vote share of 32.00%. He defeated Siddharth Akaramji Deole of the VBA, who received 52,464 votes, with a margin of 13,695 votes.
The 2014 Assembly Elections also saw Lakhan Sahadev Malik from the BJP emerging victorious. He garnered 48,196 votes, accounting for 25.80% of the total votes, and defeated Nilesh alias Shashikant Pendharkar of the SHS, who received 43,803 votes. The margin of victory was 4,393 votes.
With its history of closely fought contests, Washim is set to play a significant role in the upcoming elections.
