Reacting to President Droupadi Murmu’s address during a joint sitting of Parliament on Friday, Independent MP Pappu Yadav said she just read a “love letter.”
"The President is like a stamp. She just has to read a love letter...," Yadav was quoted as saying by ANI.
Stepping up his attack on the BJP, Yadav alleged that the party had misled the voters who placed their trust in them.
"Let's start with the economy, demonetisation, black money, Rs 15 lakh, 2 crore jobs, Ayushmann, Jan Dhan Yojana, MSPs, Manipur, Agniveer, reservation, caste census... They (BJP) always lie and try to divert people. Mahakumbh is happening in 12 years but they said it is happening after 144 years. they don't talk about common men, economy,” he added further.
Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu initiated the Budget session 2025-26 with a joint address to Parliament. She asserted that India is on track to become the third-largest economy in the near future.
Murmu also emphasised that the government, in its third term, is operating at three times the speed of previous regimes, determined to overcome "policy paralysis." She cited landmark decisions, including those on Waqf Amendment Bill and One Nation, One Election.
"My government has not only recognised the contribution of the middle class but also appreciated it at every opportunity. The government is also working to give appropriate rates for farm produce and increase the income of farmers.
"Many employment opportunities are being created as various steps are being taken for economic empowerment of the cooperative sector," she said.
Murmu said the government has decided to expand the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide new houses to 3 crore additional families.
Meanwhile, reacting to Murmu’s speech, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi stated that the President was getting tired.
"The President was getting very tired by the end...She could hardly speak, poor thing..." said Gandhi.
