PM Modi asks NDA MPs to organise Swadeshi Mela building on GST rate cuts 'lehar'; hails NDA V-P pick on polls eve

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked the ruling NDA MPs to organise 'Swadeshi Mela' from Navratri (September 22) till Diwali to promote made-in-India products and hold meetings with traders over the GST rate cuts.

Sharing the photos of the meet on X, PM Modi also said that candidature of CP Radhakrishann for Vice-President elections, to be held on September 9, has "generated immense enthusiasm all across", adding that he will be an "excellent Vice President".

He further said the Radhakrishnan will "enrich the office with his wisdom and insights".

In an address to the NDA MPs ahead of Vice-Presidential elections on September 9, PM Modi asked the MPs to hold Swadeshi Mela and urged them to say 'with pride, this is Swadeshi'.

"Participated in the NDA meeting in Delhi, attended by MPs across the NDA family. The candidature of Thiru CP Radhakrishnan has generated immense enthusiasm all across. People believe that he will be an excellent Vice President, who will enrich the office with his wisdom and insights," PM Modi wrote on X.

'Swadeshi' was the main theme of his speech to the MPs at the meeting held on the eve of the vice presidential election.

Sources said Modi asserted that the GST rate cuts by his government have generated a "lehar" (wave) and asked MPs to build on it by spreading the message to the masses by holding meetings with them.

He asked the MPs to stay in touch with businessmen through Vyapari Sammellan.

He stressed the need for promoting made-in-India products by holding special fairs in their constituencies, the sources said.

Modi advised MPs to see to it that they vote in a correct manner in the vice presidential polls on Tuesday so that no vote is wasted, the sources said.
