Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday (July 31, 2025) announced that N.K. Premachandran has been nominated as an empanelled member to preside over the proceedings of the House.

Proceedings in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday following protests by opposition members over various issues.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar replied to the debate on Operation Sindoor in Rajya Sabha, clarifying that there was no phone call between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump between April 22 and June 16. He also said that with the Pahalgam attack, a red line was crossed by the terrorists.

The Lok Sabha has approved the extension of President's rule in Manipur. This extension is for six months. The government says the law and order situation has improved. Nityanand Rai mentioned only one incident of violence after President's rule. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam opposed the extension. He demanded fresh elections in Manipur. He said the people's mandate should prevail.
