‘Pakistan is now India’s wife, just bring her home’: Beniwal’s comic spin leaves Lok Sabha in splits

Beniwal, who heads the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, said Pakistan had effectively become India’s wife after Operation Sindoor and quipped that the government should now just “bring her home.”

Amid a heated debate in the Lok Sabha over Operation Sindoor, a moment of comic relief came courtesy of Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal, whose tongue-in-cheek remarks had leaders on both sides of the political aisle laugh out loud.

Beniwal, who heads the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, said Pakistan had effectively become India’s wife after Operation Sindoor and quipped that the government should now just “bring her home.”

“You named it 'Operation Sindoor'. It looked like India was applying sindoor to Pakistan's hair parting. In Hindu tradition, a woman considers her husband as her sindoor. So if India puts sindoor on Pakistan, then Pakistan is now the wife. Only the ‘vidai’ (bride’s farewell) is left. Go and bring her home,” he said, as members across the house started laughing.

Beniwal’s neighbour in the House, Nagina MP and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad, could barely contain his amusement as the Rajasthan MP continued his satirical commentary.

When asked to wrap up his speech, Beniwal shot back, “You spoke for half an hour and you’re asking me to go?” When the buzzer rang to signal his time was up, he retorted, “Kya ho gaya? (what happened?)," prompting Azad to request more time on his behalf.

Taking a playful dig at the scheduling of his slot, Beniwal said, “You’re making me speak at 10:30 am. My remarks won’t even be printed in the newspapers. I’ll have to manage with social media,” drawing another round of laughter.

The MP also raised some serious concerns. He questioned the security lapse that led to the Pahalgam terror attack and demanded an investigation. He also criticised the Agniveer recruitment scheme, saying it had affected the morale of the armed forces and called for its rollback.
