Lucknow building collapse: 3-member panel formed by UP govt to probe incident

Eight people died and 28 others sustained injuries when a three-storey building collapsed in the Transport Nagar area of Lucknow on September 8 evening.

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government on September 8 formed a three-member panel to investigate the Lucknow building collapse that killed eight and injured several others.

According to a press statement released by the government, the committee was formed on the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It will be headed by Sanjiv Gupta, a secretary in the home department.

Balkar Singh, Secretary of the Housing and Urban Planning Department, and Vijay Kanaujia, Chief Engineer (Central Region), Public Works Department, Lucknow, are the other two members of the panel.

"The inquiry committee is expected to investigate the cause of the incident and submit its report to the government as soon as possible," the statement read.
