Hours after Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday joined the ongoing 'Palayan Roko, Naukri Do' padyatra of the Congress in Bihar's Begusarai district, JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad alias Lalan Singh termed the initiative as an eyewash intended to confuse the people of the state.
The yatra was launched under the leadership of NSUI national in-charge Kanhaiya Kumar. Clad in a white T-shirt, Gandhi participated in the padyatra in Begusarai town and was accompanied by several party leaders, including Kanhaiya Kumar and state party president Rajesh Kumar. Gandhi’s visit is also being seen as an attempt to motivate party workers to rally around the troika of young leaders — Kanhaiya, AICC Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru and new Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram.
"The padyatra of Rahul Gandhi on the issue of migration continued only for 30 minutes, Rahul Gandhi walked for only 2 km and the yatra finished. How long the Congress will continue to confuse people? It is has become a subject of ridicule, as what message Congress wants to give on serious issues such as this. I feel that Congress does not have a moral right to speak about employment and migration," remarked the JD(U) leader.
Commenting on previous governments when Congress ruled in tandem with regional parties, Prasad said: "They ruled for more than six decades, also in Bihar, despite being in power for so long, they could not find a solution to these issues. Their ally RJD forced lakhs of people to migrate to save their lives. There used to havoc of extremist forces, 'bahubalis' used to run parallel government in districts. Bihar has come out of all of these. Jobs were created. The government is supporting downtrodden people after caste census. Congress has failed protect its lost reputation in Bihar."
Additionally , taking a jibe at Gandhi over his Bihar visit, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Rahul Gandhi could have started white T-shirt movement to stop the migration, but Congress has itself migrated from Bihar. Congress is also culprit of Lalu Yadav's 'jungle raj' of 15 years. There is a blot on white T-shirt of Congress. Congress was an ally of RJD."
