Meanwhile, India has been trying to develop a fifth-generation deep penetration Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) in line with futuristic requirements of the Indian Air Force, people familiar with the matter said
India has been trying to develop a fifth-generation fighter aircraft also known as Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) with advanced stealth features to meet the new and developing challenges in modern warfare The initial development cost of the project has been estimated at around Rs 15,000 crore, according to the various reports
Only a very few select countries in the world such as the US, Russia and China have fifth-generation stealth fighter jets. Under the plan, five prototypes of the AMCA will jointly be built by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) with support from private industries as reported by news agency PTI earlier.
The Indian Air Force(IAF) has been pushing for the AMCA project because of its long-term requirement.
Also, according to HAL, the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) with glass cockpit would be deployed for reconnaissance, surveillance roles and as a light transport helicopter.
The helicopter will be capable of flying at 220 kmph, with a service ceiling of 6.5 km and a range of 350 km with 400 kg payload.
The LUH is powered by TM/HAL Ardiden 1U/Shakti 1U single turbo shaft engine with sufficient power margins to cater to demanding high altitude missions.
