Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has published the letter that was written by the Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Karnataka to the Election Commission of India. The letter is dated 14 March, 2025.
The letter comes at a crucial point when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is already accusing the NDA and the ECI of "vote chori" and unfair elections. It has raised questions over delays in providing crucial information sought by the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for an ongoing probe.
The letter, which can be accessed through a public link shared by Ramesh, includes communication from the Karnataka CID to the ECI, in which investigators have repeatedly requested details such as destination IP addresses, OTP records and other data relevant to the case.
According to the documents that have now been made public, the CID sent multiple reminders over the past 18 months, seeking complete information. The Karnataka CEO too followed up with the ECI several times, urging that the data be shared.
However, the ECI in Delhi has yet to release the requested information, effectively stalling the CID’s investigation, Ramesh has alleged. "Why is the ECI in Delhi blocking the investigation by refusing to release data to the police for 18 months? This is clear proof that the ECI is blocking the investigation so that Vote Chors are protected," he wrote in an X post.

Meanwhile, launching a fresh attack directed at the Election Commission of India, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was protecting people who have destroyed Indian democracy.
“I am going to show you... the youth of India, the people of India today proof that is black and white, absolutely clear that the Chief Election Commissioner of India is protecting the people who have destroyed Indian democracy. I am also going to show you the method by which votes are being added and deleted and how that is done,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said addressing a press conference on Thursday.
He stated that instead of ensuring free and fair elections, the poll body was acting in a biased manner.
