Congress leader Udit Raj said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a symbol of “modern Ravana”.
"PM Modi is a symbol of modern Ravana, and the way he is building his golden palace, once he enters it, he will see the same golden palace burn,” told IANS.
Raj said Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has said that the Ravana of Delhi must be burned. “PM Modi cannot continue for long, and soon there will be fire in his Lanka," said Raj.
He also called RSS a “terrorist organisation”.
"Its ideology was responsible for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Today, October 2, is Gandhi Jayanti, the day we honor the Father of the Nation who brought independence to the country. It is extremely unfortunate that on his birthday, the centenary of a killer organization is being celebrated..." he said.
Raj also commented on India hosting a Taliban minister next week, and said that this challenges India’s foreign relations.
"They make a lot of publicity. Whenever PM Modi tries to show that they are succeeding, they always fail. Like in the case of China, they show that they are having good relations. Similarly, with the US, they showed that they have good relations, but it’s quite the opposite. Afghanistan is our neighbouring country. Let’s see what happens."
What does BJP say?
In a post on X, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said Raj crossed the line. “ Muhabbat Ki Dukaan or nafrat ke bhaijaan ? Story *Once again Congress crosses the line* Says *PM Modi is a symbol of modern Ravana, and the way he is building his golden palace, once he enters it, he will see the same golden palace burn,” he said.
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said Congress leader has given a "clear instruction to Udit Raj". " Get up every morning and abuse India, speak Ill against PM Modi. This morning Udit Raj gets up hoping that -" PM House will be burn and does Ravan analogy. Rahul Gandhi is sinister," Bhandari said on X.
Last month, Raj drew fire from the BJP after suggesting that India could face a Nepal-like situation if not for the strength of its Constitution.
“People are discussing the way in which the public has uprooted power in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Could something like that not happen in India? Some people are even expressing the possibility of it happening. In fact, the circumstances are just the same, and in some cases even more so, but our constitution prevents us from doing so. The roots of our democracy are very deep, which were planted by the Congress,” the Congress leader said in a post on X.
