Four people drowned when a boat overturned in the Jhelum river on the city's outskirts on Tuesday, officials reported.

The incident occurred in Gandbal Nowgam area, with many others still missing. A rescue operation, involving the deployment of the State Disaster Response Force team, was initiated.

So far, four bodies have been recovered, but the search for missing individuals continues. Heavy rainfall in recent days has caused water levels to rise in various water bodies, including the Jhelum river.
