A six-storey building collapsed in Surat's Sachin area on Saturday, leading to a significant rescue operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The incident has resulted in the retrieval of three bodies, with at least six to seven individuals still feared trapped under the debris.

"Rescue operations are underway by the SDRF and NDRF teams. According to the information that was received, 6-7 people are trapped and three bodies have been retrieved. One person is injured and has been rescued," stated Anupam Gehlot, Commissioner of Police, Surat. Further updates are awaited as the rescue efforts continue.

The collapse occurred in a building containing 30 flats, although only 4-5 flats were occupied at the time. "Many people who were living in that building got trapped inside. Police and fire brigade reached the spot immediately. A woman was successfully rescued who was trapped under the debris. Many were at work, and those who were sleeping after a night shift got trapped," explained Gehlot.

Authorities are working diligently to rescue those still trapped, with ongoing efforts from both the NDRF and SDRF teams. The building's collapse has prompted a swift response from local emergency services, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
