Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 8 (PTI) Kerala Government Chief Whip P C George today tendered an apology in the assembly for his 'unsavoury' remark against Opposition members after the issue was raised in the House by Opposition leader V S Achuthanadan. During zero hour, Achuthanandan said George's remark amounted to show of disrespect to entire House and sought an unconditional apology from him. Achuthanandan also said George had insulted the Dalit community while addressing a meeting."It has become a practice for George to insult others with the position he holds", Achuthanandan added. George, a nominee of Kerala Congress (M), in his statement said he inadvertently uttered the unsavoury word against Opposition members during a speech at a meeting outside the House and there was no intention on his part to deliberately insult or humiliate anybody. "I apologise for the remark if it has hurt anyone," George said. The House witnessed noisy scenes over the issue as Opposition members wanted action against George which led to adjournment of the House for some 45 minutes. However, when the House reassembled, Speaker G Karthikeyan announced that Chair would examine the video of the speech made by George and "take appropriate decision." PTI JRK BN
