PIL against Feb 20, 21 general strike admitted in Cal HC

February 08, 2013 / 20:10 IST

Kolkata, Feb 08 (PTI) The Calcutta High Court today admitted a PIL praying for direction for withdrawal of the February 20 and 21 nationwide general strike called by central trade unions. Chief Justice Arun Kumar Mishra was of the view that unless work culture was revived among the people, no purpose would be served by filing applications and issuing orders against strikes and bandhs. Calling for awakening among the people in favour of work culture, the chief justice observed that work culture was prevalent in China and Japan, and not in India, which was unfortunate. The PIL was moved on behalf of All-India Minority Forum and is likely to come for hearing next week. PTI PB PC DKB HKS
