Jodhpur, Jan 8 (PTI) A huge consignment of opium worth Rs 25 lakhs was today seized and two persons were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Jodhpur-Nagaur highway near here, an official said. NCB received a tip off from sources that a huge consignment of opium is on its way from Jodhpur to Nagaur today, Zonal Director (NCB) Neha Champawat said. "We deployed our sleuths near Khedapa of the Jodhpur – Nagaur highway to nab the vehicle, in which the consignment was transported and intercepted a mini truck following the tip off. On search of the truck, we found 62.5 kg opium worth Rs 25 lac in it, which had been loaded in the truck from Dangiawas in Jodhpur," Champawat said. "We seized the opium and arrested two persons including the driver, who have been identified as Birbal Ram Bishnoi and Mohan Lal Godara," she said. It is a major recovery of opium in past few years in Jodhpur, where such seizures are routine, she said. The accused are being interrogated to ascertain where this consignment had come from and what was its destination, she added. PTI Corr HKR
