Kadapa (AP), Feb 11 (PTI) Nearly two dozen red sanders smugglers were arrested during a special drive jointly carried out by the police and Forest Department, officials said today. A special police team nabbed 22 red sanders smugglers during a combing which began yesterday at Rayachoty town, 50km from here, a senior forest official said. The smugglers hail from adjoining Tamil Nadu, he said. The combing operation was still on and kingpins of the smuggling racket are yet to be apprehended, the official said. The gang had been involved in smuggling red sanders or sandalwood, which have huge demand in international market, from the forests of Kadapa, he added. PTI COR RSY
