Chennai, Nov 25 (PTI): Gujarat government plans to improve the infrastructure around the historically important sites of Lothal and Dholavira. "Though TCGL develops tourism activities in other areas in the state, Lothal and Dholavira have been given special focus, since they are historically important sites," Sanjay Kaul, Commissioner of Gujarat Tourism told reporters here. Aspiring to make Dholavira a UNESCO site, TCGL will spend Rs 12 crore to improve tourism infrastructure around Lothal and Dholavira, now under the ambit of Archaeological Survey of India, he said. To support historical and academic knowledge to be imparted to special guides for this project, Gujarat tourism will collaborate with The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and Archaeological Survey of India, Kaul said.
