Indian Railway budget 2011-12:

Too Good to be True.......

For the third successive year, the railway budget for 2011-12 seems to be people friendly budget, which spared the passengers of any increase in fares and proposed no hike in freight rates while introducing few new trains. Rail Budget 2011-12 proposes the highest-ever plan outlay of Rs 576.3 billion. For 2011-12, the budget projects a freight loading of 993 million tonnes and a passenger growth of 6.4%.
 
Indian Railways (IR) plan to add ~ 1,000 new line km p.a. as against an average of 180 kms p.a. registered historically.
